What is JT's Grooming doing about COVID-19?

JT's Grooming

JT's Grooming is a safe place
In light of the madness going around about Coronavirus COVID-19, I feel my duty as a public servant, and your barber, to disclose some things that you guys may not be aware of.

Before I joined the barbering family, I didn't know much about it other than the fact that they cut hair. Little did I know that when I entered barber school that I would spend just as much time, if not more, on health and sanitation practices, laws, and procedures than on actually learning how to cut hair. It gets taken for granted a lot of the time because it's the thing we as barbers are taught to do in the shadows. We clean our clippers behind you, we use neck strips to prevent skin to skin contact, we disinfect our clippers while you're telling us about last nights game when you first walk in.

These are things that we, as barbers, do to protect our clientele. To protect, you, your family, our community, our tools, our environment, and also ourselves and our family. This is not something that we take lightly or pass over because it isn't important. This is a key pillar that separates us professionals from the guys that cut hair in their bathroom. I mean no offense, because that's where I first started cutting hair, but I'm not the same anymore and that's what I'm here to disclose.

Below are some things that I personally practice on a very consistent basis, as well as some tips that you can do to help keep my environment and our families safe.
Sanitation practices in place:
BETWEEN CLIENTS:

-I use a spray on all metal tools and implements that acts as virucide, fungicide, bactericide and tuberculocide

-I clear all loose hair from and wipe down barber chair with hospital grade disinfectant

-I use hand sanitizer and allow to fully dry before coming into contact with anything

-use a clean neck strip between the cape and your neck to prevent skin to skin contact

-sweep all loose hair from any client before you

-soak all non metal implements in hospital grade disinfectant for ample time to kill any and all germs that could possibly be passed

-dispose razor blades into a sharps disposal case and use a freshly disinfected blade on each client

EVERY DAY:

-I wipe down door handles, cash register, guest chair, light switches, sink faucets and all other common surfaces with hospital grade disinfectant/cleaners

-wash all towels and capes with bleach

-mop floors to remove any leftover debris

THINGS YOU CAN DO:

-resort to fist bumps instead of hand shakes

-wash hands thoroughly and frequently

-cancel your appointment if you or someone in your household feels under the weather in any way or has been out of the country in the last 14 days

-sneeze or cough into your elbow and not your hands

-do not bring any food or drinks into my suite

-do not touch my trash can lid (it has a motion sensor)

-use hand sanitizer provided
I hope this helps shed some light on what you can look forward to when it comes to the health and sanitation of my barber suite. Thank you for your continued support of a locally grown small business. I'll see you at your next appointment here soon.
