Ballena Bay Yacht Club welcomes the Knarr Invitational Regatta!

Festivities begin on Friday, August 16 -

Come on by after the Knarr Regatta position their boats and the Friday Night Griller Racers come in after their race for the

cocktail hour starting at 5:00 pm!

Pay at the door Friday night for a meal for $10 !

Saturday, August 17th Cocktails start at 4pm when the Regatta come off the water and then enjoy a "Taste of Summer" Membership Dinner at 6:00 pm, "Grilled Burgers, All the Fixin's (vegi-burgers available) with Mint/Basil/Feta Watermelon Salad, Asian Slaw, Summer Pasta Salad and Dessert,

all for $15 including your first round!

What is a Knarr (Knarrer, or is it Knarren plural)? Bermuda rigged, long keeled sailing yachts designed in 1943 by Norwegian Erling Kristofersen. They are 30' long with a beam of 6', racing with a crew of four. Sails only, no motor on the boats. There will be up to 8 boats racing this year, and they have a long racing tradition, mostly out of the Saint Francis Yacht Club on the Bay. BBYC is thrilled to host the Regatta, so come help cheer them on and support their racing tradition!

Stop in Friday night for one of our regular Griller Series nights to welcome the Regatta as they bring their boats into position for the Saturday race and come back Saturday to see it all happen! You are invited to pre-purchase a great Saturday dinner to hang with the racers as they share the excitement of the race and watch their videos--we have a great chef team coordinating this event--Virginia Gleason, Gina Secchi, and Kathryn Rees.
