As we prepare for the Spring Equinox, we look forward to welcoming longer days, warmer sun, and a season of growth and new beginnings. We begin to prepare our garden for the abundance and prosperity of life-giving nutrients it will gift us, and continue to cherish the hands and hearts that prepare and create. Happy March, everyone!

Feverfew is a favorite for the medicinal garden due to its highly ornamental daisy-like blooms and deep-green foliage. Feverfew is native to Eurasia, but adapts well to other regions and grows in full sun. Feverfew is a tender perennial with a long history as an herbal medicine for treating inflammation.

Yarrow, belonging to the aster family, shares a close kinship with chrysanthemums and chamomile. Thriving in sunny and warm environments, it is commonly found in meadows, along roadsides, and on dry, sunlit slopes. The plant features a simple, upright, and hairy stem, usually not exceeding 3 feet in height. Yarrow graces the landscape with its white blooms from June to September, while mountainous regions may display pink or pale purple flowers. Its petals form dense clusters in flattened arrangements, resembling feathers, and the plant exhibits rapid spreading. Notably, there is considerable genetic variation in the beneficial properties of this versatile plant.
