Art Opening + Gluten-free Baked Goods

Art can reduce stress, enhance mood, and foster a sense of mindfulness and connection. Who knew it could do all that good stuff? 

Looking at a piece of art or listening to a song can actually stimulate the release of dopamine and endorphins. It can lower cortisol levels and decrease heart rate. But one of our favorite things about art is that it brings us together as a community through gallery visits, concerts, seeing a movie together, and discussions about the work.

We strive to be an art positive space, to be a sort of patron to our local artists. Not only does art bring joy to our community, but it encourages cultural and economic growth. 

Without the arts, our world would be void of beauty, creativity, and human expression. The absence of art would be felt in every aspect of our lives. We would no longer have music to move us, paintings to inspire us or books and films to entertain us. Our world would be stripped of color, texture and vibrancy.

We are so lucky to be here in Raleigh with our incredible art scene, and we are so lucky to have incredible artists hang their work in our space. So come on by Rebus this weekend and stimulate those endorphins! ; )

About the pieces:

White enamel and a little chrome glimmer from the dumpster. Lumber scrap balances in tentative stacks by the curb. Bent sheet metal fractures color across asphalt shingles and ceramic tile. Cardboard softens in the humidity. These discarded fragments — once hidden within walls, beneath floors, behind fixtures — surface, briefly untethered from their purpose. On the grey felt of my table, they become part image, part evidence. I consider what holds a house together, what breaks down, and who tends to the aftermath.
