Danger Hall + Rising Thistle + Thursday Night Series

ROLLING OUT MORE EVENTS
Here at Rebus Works, our goal has been to create a comfortable and welcoming space. We want to be one of those places where you can feel safe showing up by yourself, knowing that you'll either bump into friends or that you can have a solo night without trepidation.

With the success of Ambient Music Night, we've decided to introduce an event every Thursday of the month!

Thursday nights, or "Little Friday" as we call them around these parts, is the gateway to starting your weekend off right. Our Thursday lineup includes Open Mic Night and Trivia Night along with our Ambient Music Night.

Now, you can show up Thursdays and know that something fun will be happening!

LIVE MUSIC
Danger Hall
Danger Hall is back this Saturday with their groove-based music!

The quartet is comprised of vets from the Raleigh/Chapel Hill/Durham music scene, Steve Grothmann (bass), Dan Hall (drums), Peter Lamb (tenor sax), and Shepherd Lane (pedal steel), who together make deep grooved, partly improvised music with original tunes and unexpected covers. Shepherd’s pedal steel offers unique chord voicings—kinda ethereal, kinda cosmic—and leaves plenty of space for rhythmic improv in the middle of the sound spectrum. Dan, Peter, and Steve have a long history together going back to the Countdown Quartet in the early 2000s, when they gigged extensively playing old-school R&B and trad jazz around the southeast and further. Shepherd and Steve currently play in the partly instrumental, psychedelic rock combo, Clear Spots. After too many years, in early 2024 Steve and Dan started meeting to jam again, free form. Soon Steve and Peter reconnected to the side at a fill-in gig…and the idea to bring in Shep on steel, for a whole different sound, was right there in front of them.
These friends bring broad musical tastes—sources or influences you might hear include Sonny Sharrock, Sonny Rollins, Can, Charlie Haden, Hawaiian slide tunes, old-fashioned Cuban son, Monk, Coltrane, Beach Boys…their goal is to avoid limits.

Sponsored by Artet, a cannabis aperitif.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT
RAW CRUNCH

Located in Indian Trail NC, Raw Crunch has been deemed "Probably the Best Bar on the Market for Insulin Control” by Dr. Mark Hyman (15x New York Times best selling author and international leader in functional medicine.)

Brand values: Eco-friendly, Handmade, Organic, Women owned

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the owners, Ross and Kathy:

It all started 20 years ago, just two newly married athletes looking for a simple way to make real food convenient. We just wanted to let food be food & so Raw Crunch® bars were born, Nature Unchanged™. Raw, organic, handmade energy bars derived from nature and not altered in any way. Dehydrated rather than cooked in order to maintain their original concentrated nutrients, enzymes and potent antioxidants. Of course, most importantly, they taste really yummy! Living in grandma’s basement made it possible to afford renting a commercial kitchen…talk about motivation. We slowly grew from word of mouth, hired more passionate people, bought equipment, put in hard work, learned from our mistakes, and no matter what we never compromised & never stopped believing in our product. Now two kids, two dogs and a pet pig later, we are still dehydrating the same small batches. We recently moved our Raw Crunch bar factory front and center and added a full-service organic coffee shop with the same quality standards and personal passion for excellence as our bars! Coffee in the front, bars in the back. Our shop is located in the heart of Indian Trail, NC and is organic, gluten friendly and proudly free of "natural flavors"! Not to mention, you finally have a local Raw Crunch bar pick-up location. We also offer our meticulously sourced, locally roasted, organic coffee blends on our website! Stop by and say hi if you are in town.
Thanks a Crunch,
Ross & Kathy

HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF ON OUR WEBSITE
We are still reeling from the events that impacted our neighbors in the mountains, and we’re taking action by gathering GoFundMe campaigns and featuring them on our relief page. Many of the businesses we’ve reached out to that are still open have asked us to showcase their products, as they’re eager to attract autumn visitors. We’re also in the process of securing more of their offerings, so remember to think of Rebus when you begin your holiday shopping.

For more information on how you can help Western NC directly, go to our Hurricane Helene Relief page here.
