First Avenue Coffee

First Friday @ First Avenue Coffee
We're excited to host artist Diane Sherman and musical guest The Merry Makers tomorrow, May 3rd, from 5-8pm for First Friday!! Let's learn more about Diane:
I have been an artist since I was a little girl with a profound love of dance, writing and painting.
My passion for the arts inspired me to study Art History and dive into what made the Masters tick; and through that study I discovered just how significant art’s role has been throughout the ages.
It has been the mirror of the collective psyche in each period, with artists the visionary messengers of the era.
Through my studies, my interest turned to the sacred in art, so I pursued a Masters in Arts and Consciousness. Since that time (1996) I have studied consciousness and how we create sacred objects with the power of our intentions. When we make an object imbued with purpose, we shift consciousness with that intention, and that object then vibrates with the energy we have infused into it.
All of my art begins with a connection to Spirit, inviting in what needs to move through me. I also work with individuals to create Talisman Paintings, a process I developed to co-create a painting with my client’s intentions. It is a powerful, deep process, and the painting serves as a talisman for the person’s next chapter of life.
I have a Bachelors in Art History from UCLA and a Masters in Arts and Consciousness from JFK University. I’ve taught yoga for 20 years in studios, corporations and in prison and I lead international retreats to India, combining yoga and the creative process.
