Basking in the Certainly Uncertain + Events Galore!

A FRESH START, ON THE HOUSE
Spring is officially here. Of course, many of us have already been feeling its arrival in small ways—longer days, new blooms, a sense of possibility in the air. Spring is a time of renewal, but renewal isn’t always easy. It means change, and change often comes with uncertainty.

At Rebus Works, we’ve been thinking a lot about the future—our own, and the future of the community we’re part of. We know that for many families, planning ahead feels complicated right now. It’s hard to make big decisions when so much is in flux. So, as we look forward, we’re also focusing on what we can do in the present: creating space for connection, joy, and a little bit of lightness. That’s why we’re doubling down on free events: live music, comedy, poetry readings, and, of course, our beloved Super Stuff Records Vinyl Night and Triangle Synth Party’s Ambient Synth Night. And beyond that, we have some quintessentially Rebus-style gatherings in store: an adult Easter egg hunt on 4/20 (yes, it’s exactly what you think), a Grey Gardens Mother’s Day brunch (drag-friendly, obviously), spring markets, Dreamville celebrations, and more. These events aren’t just entertainment—they’re a way to strengthen the bonds that make this community special. We hope you’ll join us and be part of it.

And since spring is also a time for slowing down and reconnecting at home, we’ve chosen a few thoughtful products to help make that time a little easier—whether you’re looking for a meaningful gift, preparing for seasonal allergies, planning a meal, or getting ready to host this season's holidays. Check them out below!
PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT:
Rancho Gordo Pozole Gift Box
Rancho Gordo Pozole Gift Box $45.00
Looking for a gift that’s thoughtful, delicious, and a little unexpected? The Rancho Gordo Pozole Gift Box is a home cook’s dream and a holiday host’s secret weapon. Packed with everything needed to make a rich, comforting bowl of authentic pozole, this set is a love letter to traditional flavors and wholesome ingredients.

Inside, you’ll find Rancho Gordo’s signature dried hominy—big, beautiful kernels that plump up into the heartiest, most satisfying pozole—along with bold, aromatic seasonings to bring it all together. Whether you're gifting it to a soup-lover, a slow-food enthusiast, or someone who simply appreciates a cozy, nourishing meal, this box delivers both flavor and warmth.

Perfect for holiday gatherings, casual dinners, or meal prepping for the week ahead, it’s a gift that keeps on giving—because nothing says "I appreciate you" quite like a pot of homemade pozole.
The Pleasant Bee Honey
The Pleasant Bee Honey $15.00 - $35.00
Sourced from thriving hives across Wake County, NC, The Pleasant Bee Honey is more than just a sweet treat—it’s a jar full of local goodness. Every spoonful captures the distinct flavors of the region’s blooms, thanks to the hardworking bees that gather nectar from the area’s diverse flora.

While many believe that local honey may help with seasonal allergies, science hasn’t quite confirmed it—yet. But what we do know is that this raw, unfiltered honey is packed with antioxidants, soothing properties for sore throats, and a naturally rich, complex flavor that’s perfect for everything from drizzling over warm biscuits to stirring into tea. (It’s also the honey we swear by and use behind the bar at Rebus!)

Whether you’re gifting it to a health-conscious foodie, a holiday host, or simply stocking your pantry with nature’s best sweetener, this honey is a golden, wholesome delight—straight from Wake County’s buzzing backyard!
Tidewater Grain Co. Heirloom Rice Flour, 2lb
Tidewater Grain Co. Heirloom Rice Flour, 2lb $13.00
Another season of gathering is upon us, and whether you’re planning a holiday feast or a casual dinner with friends, accommodating guests with dietary needs has never been easier with Tidewater Grain Co.’s Rice Flour. Milled from locally grown Carolina Gold rice, this finely ground, gluten-free flour is the perfect alternative for anyone looking to avoid gluten—whether due to sensitivities, inflammation, or simply a desire for a gentler option.

For those who find gluten inflammatory or difficult to digest, swapping in Tidewater Grain Co.’s Rice Flour allows you to create delicious, inclusive dishes without sacrificing flavor or texture. Use it to make crispy, golden coatings for fried foods, silky-smooth gravies and sauces, or tender, delicate baked goods. It’s a must-have for any host, ensuring that gluten-free guests feel just as welcome at the table.

Beyond its versatility, this rice flour is rooted in Southern tradition, milled from heritage Carolina Gold rice grown right here in the Carolinas. Keeping a bag in your pantry means you’re always prepared with a high-quality, locally sourced ingredient that’s as good for your cooking as it is for your guests.
Miss Can Mackerel Fillets in Mustard Sauce
Miss Can Mackerel Fillets in Mustard Sauce $12.00
As the days grow longer and the farmers' markets fill with fresh greens, there's no better time to embrace the art of effortless, flavorful meals...and that means tinned fish! While we firmly believe it’s always the right time for a tin of fish, spring is especially ideal for Miss Can’s Mackerel Fillets in Mustard Sauce. Light yet satisfying, these tender fillets are packed in a tangy, velvety mustard sauce that adds just the right amount of bite to salads, sandwiches, or a simple snack straight from the tin itself.

Beyond the convenience and stellar taste, tinned fish is a nutritional powerhouse. Mackerel is naturally rich in Omega-3s, essential for heart and brain health, while also being a fantastic source of lean protein, vitamin D, and B12. Unlike fresh fish that requires careful storage and preparation, these fillets are ready when you are—making them perfect for spontaneous spring picnics, easy work lunches, or a quick, satisfying meal when you’d rather be outside soaking up the sun than stuck in the kitchen.

These mackerel fillets are perfect for a solo bite, a night of hosting, or even just a warm evening when turning on the stove feels like too much. Pair them with Hungry Bird Eats Nordic Crisps crackers (some of which are gluten-free, and also available at Rebus!) for the ultimate crunch-to-creamy balance. And if mustard isn't your thing, we’ve got you covered—our shelves hold a carefully curated selection of other Miss Can varieties and additional premium tinned fish brands like Sardinha, Fishwife, José Gourmet, Tiny Fish Co., and more!

HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF ON OUR WEBSITE
We are still reeling from the events that impacted our neighbors in the mountains, and we’re taking action by gathering GoFundMe campaigns and featuring them on our relief page. Many of the businesses we’ve reached out to that are still open have asked us to showcase their products, as they’re eager to attract autumn visitors. We’re also in the process of securing more of their offerings, so remember to think of Rebus when you begin your holiday shopping.

For more information on how you can help Western NC directly, go to our Hurricane Helene Relief page here.
