"Invisible Monuments" Author Event
with Howard Mansfield

Saturday, November 14th

We are pleased to host award-winning author Howard Mansfield, who writes about architecture, preservation, and history in his quest to understand the soul of American places. He will be signing and discussing his newest book Invisible Monuments: Tribute, Memory, and the Summoning of the Past.

The event is free and open to the public. Signed copies will be available for purchase. For more information or to RSVP, call 508-949-6232.

We live in an era of monument building, yet we don’t look at most of the monuments and memorials around us. They disappear from view. Some monuments do elicit a strong emotional response even after many decades. Why do these work, when others don’t? Howard Mansfield sifts through the commonplace and the forgotten to discover stories that tell us about ourselves and our place in the world.
