The Black Genius Art Show Opens Genius Guice Studios in Downtown Baltimore
Downtown Partnership’s Black-Owned Occupancy Storefront Initiatives Opens Doors

What: Bryan Robinson of the Black Genius Art Show invites the world to the grand opening of Genius Guice Studios, a brick-and-mortar home to his hybrid gallery of original art, garments, collaborations and immersive experiences. Robinson is among the first cohort of Downtown Partnership of Baltimore’s Black-Owned Occupancy Storefront (BOOST) program, presented by Fearless and created to support the long-term success of creative, Black-owned Baltimore businesses in Downtown storefronts.

As in the rest of the country, storefront vacancies have increased in Downtown Baltimore due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Black-owned small businesses have been most at-risk for closure, and have historically had less access to capital. Additionally, targeted business incentives will ensure Downtown Baltimore’s retail sector has a swift and equitable recovery in 2021.

“Opening my own curated art space in Downtown Baltimore- next to the memories and monuments I experienced right here as a child- symbolizes my freedom to be real, create and inspire through important dialogue and multimedia experiences,” says Robinson. “The BOOST program made that possible by investing the time, connections and resources I needed to navigate opening a small business in the established Downtown business district. We’re ready to welcome the world and celebrate Baltimore’s incredible homegrown creative class.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of having a front row seat to watching Bryan bring The Black Genius Art Show to life in his very own physical space in the heart of Downtown Baltimore,” remarked Shelonda Stokes, President of Downtown Partnership of Baltimore. “His vision and goals for his business will add so much vibrancy and authenticity to the neighborhood. I believe The Black Genius Art Show will soon become a ritual for all who seek community and inspiration.”

ABOUT THE BLACK GENIUS ART SHOW: The Black Genius Art Show (TBGAS) is an artful concept created and nurtured by Bryan Robinson. The existence stems from a connection with People, while the energy, the features and culture are reflected upon an array of artistic mediums. Each of Robinson’s creations set a simple yet bold appeal to each illustration. The use of BLACK lines mold the narrative of each individual canvas, and the GENIUS of it all is to understand that ART LIVES not just on a gallery wall but it exists in all we do. TBGAS is an experience, it is an exchange, and created for anyone and everyone.
