1. Protect Your Schedule.
You don’t need me to tell you it’s a busy season with plenty to do. I’m just here to remind you, no one is going to schedule rest (a walk, a nap, a hot bath), for you. Put rest on your calendar. Write it in and honor it the way you honor picking up your kids and attending meetings. Rest is not a luxury—it’s essential (especially this time of year).
2.Protect Your Gut.
Gut health is also brain health, immune health, and hormone health. To keep your gut happy and strong this season drink CCF tea (that’s equal parts coriander, cumin and fennel) before meals. CCF works as a digestive tonic and prebiotic. It corrects and prevents gas, bloating, and indigestion. Also drink Golden Milk (there are a variety of blends available online and at Whole Foods). This elixir works as a calming anti-inflammatory cocktail. Blend 1 teaspoon of the turmeric forward powder with 1 cup of hot plant milk of your choosing. I like almond milk—then I add a dash more cinnamon to make it taste even more festive!
3.Protect Your Immune System.
If people around you are under the weather or you feel a cold coming on, there are things you can do to boost your immune system. Gargle warm water with a pinch of turmeric and salt. This kills germs in your throat. Put 2-4 drops of oil of oregano under your tongue. Oil of oregano is rich and anti-oxidants and is known for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Finally, protect your sleep. Lack of sleep contributes to a propensity to fall ill, as well as slower recovery times. Take a nap (doctor’s order 😉)
