Transition Weather Snacking + Economic Blackout + Nation's Catering Mardi Gras Meal Kits + Three Upcoming Events

Friday, February 28:
Blackout for Big Business, Spotlight on Small Shops
On February 28th, a nationwide economic blackout is calling on people to hit pause on spending at big-box stores, fast-food chains, and corporate giants to make a statement against rising prices and corporate greed. Instead, it’s the perfect day to show some love to small, independent businesses—the ones that actually keep our communities going.

If you’re planning to shop, consider stopping by Rebus Works or other local spots and, if you can, pay with cash (it helps small businesses avoid credit card fees). Conscious spending is a powerful thing—why not make it count where it matters most?

- SNACK TO THE FUTURE -
Valentine’s Day is in the rearview mirror, and with it, the heart-shaped everything and pressure to be extra romantic. But just because we’ve left the glittery spectacle behind doesn’t mean life has to feel like a post-holiday slump. Let’s be real—when was the last time a pizza date with your favorite person wasn’t actually better than a five-course meal? Exactly. The little moments always win.

As winter and spring engage in their annual game of “who’s in charge here,” the evenings still have that chill that practically screams “grab a blanket and snacks.” This is prime time for curling up, zoning out, and indulging in the simple things, whether it’s a good show, a midday nap, or staring into the fridge like it owes you money. Forget about trying to make every moment magically amazing—sometimes, the real magic is in embracing the gloriously average.

At Rebus Works, we’re all about celebrating the small stuff (mostly because we have zero control over the big stuff). That's why we’ve selected some of our favorite snacks to help make the mundane a little more delicious. Whether you're flying solo or sharing the couch with someone who steals the blanket, we’ve got just the thing to make this seasonal limbo feel like the best part of your day.
PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT:
Pop Daddy - Beer Cheese Seasoned Pretzels 7.5oz
Pop Daddy - Beer Cheese Seasoned Pretzels 7.5oz $6.00
Pretzels and cheese are a time-honored snacking duo, but Pop Daddy’s Beer Cheese Pretzels take this classic combination to a whole new level. These aren't just your average pretzels with a light dusting of seasoning—they're boldly coated in a rich, beer-infused cheese blend that delivers a full-flavored punch in every crunchy bite. It's a revolutionary take on the snack you thought you knew, transforming a traditional favorite into something bigger, bolder, and completely addictive.

What makes them the perfect snack for vegging out? It’s all about the texture and taste. These pretzels are thick, crispy, and packed with an intense, cheesy flavor that’s tangy, savory, and just the right amount of indulgent. The subtle beer-inspired notes add a depth that makes each bite feel like a gourmet snacking experience without any of the effort. No need for dipping or extra prep—just grab a bag, kick back, and let the flavor do the work.
Homeland Creamery Butter Pecan Ice Cream
Homeland Creamery Butter Pecan Ice Cream $7.00 - $14.00
Some snacks are made for kicking back, and Homeland Creamery’s Butter Pecan Ice Cream is one of them. Crafted in Julian, NC, this rich, creamy treat is perfect for unwinding—whether you're cozying up for a movie, treating yourself after a long day, or just enjoying a well-earned moment of nothingness.

With a luscious 14% butterfat content, each bite melts smoothly on your tongue, balancing buttery sweetness with the satisfying crunch of toasted pecans. Made with milk from hormone-free Holstein and Jersey cows, it delivers a pure, nostalgic flavor that feels like home. Whether paired with dessert or enjoyed straight from the carton (no judgment), this is indulgence at its finest.

Not into Butter Pecan? No worries—we’re certainly not in the business of one-flavor-fits-all. Rebus has a full lineup of Homeland Creamery flavors, from timeless classics to bold new favorites.
Stroop Club Dutch Apple Pie & Caramel Stroopwafle
Stroop Club Dutch Apple Pie & Caramel Stroopwafle $4.00
If you’ve never had a stroopwafel before, prepare to have your snack expectations permanently raised. Originating in the Netherlands, stroopwafels are a beloved staple of Dutch coffee culture—two thin, crispy waffle cookies held together by a layer of gooey caramel syrup (a.k.a. stroop). You’ll find them everywhere in the Netherlands, from street markets to train stations to your Dutch friend’s grandma’s house (if you’re lucky). Traditionally, they’re placed over a steaming cup of coffee or tea to let the caramel soften into the perfect, melty consistency—but we won’t judge if you go straight in for the crunch.

Now, Stroop Club—one of our favorite brand names at Rebus, for obvious reasons—has taken this classic treat to the next level with their Dutch Apple Pie & Caramel Stroopwafel. Imagine the cozy flavors of cinnamon-kissed apple pie meeting the rich, buttery sweetness of caramel, all wrapped up in the warm embrace of a stroopwafel. Whether you’re pairing it with your favorite hot drink, sneaking one as a mid-afternoon snack, or pretending you’re strolling through an Amsterdam canal market, this stroopwafel delivers big on flavor and comfort.

Not feeling the apple pie? Rebus carries a variety of Stroop Club flavors, including Chai CaramelCoffee Caramel, Traditional Caramel, and a Traditional Caramel Gluten-Free version. And the best part? They’re all organic and plant-based, so you can indulge with a little extra peace of mind.
Marz Kush Party 10mg THC Botanical Seltzer
Marz Kush Party 10mg THC Botanical Seltzer $9.50
Now that we're thinking of the Netherlands, we'd be remiss not to suggest Marz Community Beverage Co.'s Kush Party. Pick up one of these, and you really might just teleport yourself to a Dutch street market.

This cannabis-infused beverage strikes the perfect balance of fizzy refreshment and mellow THC, offering just the right amount of relaxation without overwhelming effects. With subtle notes of tropical fruit, citrus, and a hint of herbal earthiness, it delivers a smooth and uplifting taste experience that’s as vibrant as it is soothing. Kush Party is a kind of sensory journey—think of it as a fun, fizzy escape without the jet lag.

Perfect for winding down after a busy day or sharing with others, Kush Party offers a mellow, blissful high that complements its refreshing flavor. As the relaxing effects of THC kick in, you’ll find yourself sinking into the couch and getting lost in your favorite shows or films. Pair this with any of our favorite snacks, and you’ll have created the *ahem* highest caliber combo for indulging without overdoing it.

SUPER STUFF RECORDS VINYL NIGHT:
EXOTICA & SPY MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS
Russell’s back at it, this time spinning records that will make you feel like a regular 007—minus the high-speed chases and questionable disguises. This edition of Vinyl Night at Rebus Works dives into the lush, cinematic world of Exotica and Spy Movie Soundtracks, transporting you straight to a smoky jazz lounge or a high-stakes baccarat table.

Russell of Super Stuff Records (whose vinyl selection at Rebus is as sharp as a secret agent’s tux) has been a longtime friend of Rebus, always curating sets that are as unexpected as a hidden gadget in a briefcase. Whether you're sipping your drink shaken or stirred, expect an evening filled with eclectic grooves, mysterious melodies, and deep cuts that could easily underscore your next mission—or at least your next chill night out on the town.

So, slip into something suave, grab a drink, and let the turntable do the talking. Because at this week's Vinyl Night, the only thing classified is the next track on the playlist.

RISING THISTLE GLUTEN-FREE POP-UP
We’re clearly already in snack mode this week, and Rising Thistle’s gluten-free pop-up is only making it worse—in the best way possible.

For those who don’t know, Rising Thistle is a Raleigh staple, dedicated to getting delicious gluten-free sweets and baked goods into the hands of many—dietary restrictions or not. This family-owned bakery specializes in Scottish-inspired treats, all crafted in a 100% gluten-free kitchen, with many options also being dairy-free and soy-free. We love hosting them at Rebus Works whenever we can (and, let’s be honest, grabbing a few treats for ourselves while we’re at it).

So yeah, we’re excited for their return—but mostly because resisting their pastries is a battle we’ve already lost.

HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF ON OUR WEBSITE
We are still reeling from the events that impacted our neighbors in the mountains, and we’re taking action by gathering GoFundMe campaigns and featuring them on our relief page. Many of the businesses we’ve reached out to that are still open have asked us to showcase their products, as they’re eager to attract autumn visitors. We’re also in the process of securing more of their offerings, so remember to think of Rebus when you begin your holiday shopping.
