Fire at St Joseph!
On Wednesday, March 19, St. Joseph’s feast day, our beloved historic building tragically caught fire shortly after 4 p.m. We believe the fire started in the attic and quickly spread throughout the structure, driven by strong winds. Thankfully, everyone was evacuated safely and the animals are all safe.

.
Our resident caretaker and three WWOOF volunteers have lost all their belongings and housing. 30 artists who relied on studio space in the building have lost their artwork and workspace.
Irreplaceable history dating back to the early 1900s, when the building served as an orphanage operated by the Benedictine Sisters, has been destroyed.

We also grieve alongside our many wonderful volunteers and members who considered St. Joseph’s a second home or a peaceful getaway.

Thank you deeply for your generosity, prayers, kind words, and support during this difficult time. We will continue to share updates regularly.

Due to the danger PLEASE do not come to the property. There is structural damage and debris that make things unsafe.
