Ambient Thursday + Labor Day + New Products

GET READY FOR LABOR DAY
Labor Day is the marker that moves us from summer fun to the crisp air of autumn.

We love having a day that lets us relax and savor the sunshine while having a great meal with family and friends. It's the perfect quiet pause before returning to the new school schedules and commitments that lead up to winter celebrations.

Want to make your Labor Day event better? Come on by Rebus*, as we've stocked up on your favorite items from local makers that will make your day an amazing celebration of flavor! We have many delicious, small-batched items on our shelves, plus you get bonus points for supporting the labor of these small businesses.

*Please note: we will be closed on Monday, 9/1 (Labor Day), so make sure you get your delicious bites before!

Once you've relaxed this weekend, we're continuing the calm on Thursday with Ambient Music Night! Ambient music creates a mood, an atmosphere, where you can hang out, have a snack and a cup of coffee, shop, or just listen to some music you probably haven't heard before. Scroll on down for more information.

SWEET DELIVERANCE Granola
Based in Kingston NY, Sweet Deliverance began in chef and postpartum doula Kelly Geary’s kitchen, when a nutrient-dense, seed-forward granola was created to support a client’s prenatal needs. The recipe quickly became a favorite among friends, family, and neighbors—and soon, a growing community of fans.

Today, Sweet Deliverance offers a collection of inspired flavors made with nourishing seeds, nuts, and spices, using organic and gluten-free ingredients wherever possible. Designed to fuel your day from morning to night, our granolas are crafted with care in small batches.

AMBIENT THURSDAY
with Triangle Synth Party
By definition, Ambient Music is meant to be passively experienced. Though you can certainly concentrate on what's being played, you don't necessarily have to. The idea is to create a mood, an atmosphere, where you can hang out, have a snack and a cup of coffee, shop, or just listen to some music you probably haven't heard before. Hopefully you'll notice what's being played enough to show your appreciation to the artists.

This month's artists are subterrene (Hillborough) and Drew Roberston (Raleigh).

As subterrene, Grant Stewart weaves found, generative, and synthesized sounds together to evoke weightless spaces or wavering visions. Much inspiration is drawn from environmental and incidental sounds of every kind.

Drew Robertson has been making experimental electronic music for most of his life. Most notably as half of the improvised psychedelic drone band Phon throughout the early 2000s. As a solo artist Drew creates sonic tapestries of field recordings and synthesizers, that evoke dread and peace in equal measure, having been described as Doom Spa music.)

HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF ON OUR WEBSITE
We are still reeling from the events that impacted our neighbors in the mountains, and we’re taking action by gathering GoFundMe campaigns and featuring them on our relief page. Many of the businesses we’ve reached out to that are still open have asked us to showcase their products, as they’re eager to attract autumn visitors. We’re also in the process of securing more of their offerings, so remember to think of Rebus when you begin your holiday shopping.
