15 Years in Business
As we head to the official beginning of the 2019 Holiday Season, we would like to say HUGE Thank you to those of you who come to our spaces every week.

Over the next few weeks, we will be celebrating 15 years as Calabar Imports, December 4 to be exact, but we are celebrating on the 7th, see below. It is an amazing accomplishment for an idea to sell African, Asian and South American cultural items in New York city that resulted in 3 locations.

As we head into 2020, I am reminded of how many times we pivoted, shifted and changed the product line, sold in a variety of ways at fairs and events, developed Calabar Magazine to market the brand, even sold wholesale, and now, the expansion of Calabar Gallery. 2020 is a beginning of another series of pivots, we began implementing a few over 2018 to 2019 and will do more in 2020.

To all our customers, fans and friends over the 15 years, we salute you for the small and big things, for the sales and the encouragement and most important, for being there. A HUGE THANK YOU and looking forward to more years in Crown Heights, Bed Stuy and Harlem.

In these 3 unique neighborhoods, we have spent time noticing huge shifts but most important, people are in crisis so, rather than a party to celebrate us, we want you to help us give back. We have 8 food pantries near our 3 locations and lines are getting incredibly longer so, we plan to give your attendance fee as a gift to these 8 locations.

This year, we are doing the unusual thing of having a Anniversary Party and asking folks to attend it by paying a fee which we will use to do some good in the communities where our stores are, after all, it's the holiday season and people need some help.

Here's the invitation, please attend or buy a ticket as a way to show support.
