Founded in 1962 by Alvin Joyce, Joyce Farms remains a proud, family-owned business. Today, Alvin's son Ron, along with his grandsons Ryan and Stuart, continue the legacy. Their headquarters and USDA-inspected poultry processing facility are in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with partner farms across the Carolinas and Georgia.

Heritage Black Turkey is a heritage breed, admitted to APA standard in 1874. It is one of the first to be developed from Native American stocks. In fact, it is believed to be the same breed the Pilgrims feasted on during their first Thanksgiving. This breed is well-suited for foraging, and these special birds are raised on a small family farm in North Carolina. They are processed by hand in their own plant, and like all of their Heritage birds, these turkeys are air-chilled to preserve flavor, tenderness, and perfect texture.

Pictured above is the patio at Molley Chomper. They were spared the flooding of Hurricane Helene, so they’ve chosen to help others by feeding their community. We reached out to offer our assistance, and their response was that we should buy their product, as they aren’t expecting the usual foot traffic from visitors coming to see the fall changing of the leaves.

We received the bottles a few days ago, and then we saw the message on Instagram about their Paw Paw bottling. Here is the message from Molley Chomper:

“It’s with mixed emotions that we release our first pawpaw cider, made from a co-ferment of pawpaw fruit from Mountain Paradise Nursery and apples from our farm. The cider has been resting since 2022, and we were so excited to let it go…and then Helene hit us. Unfortunately, our friend Tim Baker, who runs Mountain Paradise Nursery, had extensive damage to his operation. Please consider contributing to the GoFundMe on his page to help rebuild (we’re sure his needs exceed the goal, so don’t hold back!).”

We are still reeling from the events that impacted our neighbors in the mountains, and we’re taking action by gathering GoFundMe campaigns and featuring them on our relief page.
