Jennifer Clifton, an artist based in Raleigh, shares her unique perspective on art: "My work thrives on contrasts—nature versus artificial, individuality versus modern conformity, action versus contemplation, and female empowerment against a captivating yet inevitable backdrop. Through my figurative 2D art, blending paintings and pencil drawings with intricate wallpaper designs, I bring to life subjects inspired by vintage vaudeville photos and other snapshots from the past century. Tonk creates original country music that is heavily influenced by the great masters of the late 60’s to mid ’70s such as Ray Price, Merle Haggard and Johnny Paycheck. The band has released two full length albums, “Let’s Keep It Dark” in 2013 and “Second Nature” in 2016.
