IMPORTANT UPDATES: Winter Break + Our Year in Review

CAIT SHEA + Sprouted

2018 in Review:
Resolutions & Reflections
NOTE: CAIT SHEA + Sprouted will be closed for the remainder of the month as Cait Shea is recovering from wrist surgery and needs this time to rest.
January has us in a few places at once: simultaneously we look back on the past 365 days, and ahead, with hope, towards the future.

In 2018 we saw CAIT SHEA come alive, with our owner + designer Cait Shea Clark opening not one, but two storefronts in downtown Chester. The trials of these first eight months in business have been tireless—floods, illnesses, naysayers—but we saw endless support and encouragement flood through our yellow door, enough to conquer anything. As nervous as she was about founding her own Slow Fashion clothing brand, she held her ground, followed her heart (and best business sense), and had a killer first year. That's no surprise: she's been training for this her whole life.

To quote CAIT SHEA herself on the subject, "It took everything going wrong for me to realize that I was enough."  And now that she knows, she's formidable. We are so fortunate to live in a community that values its makers and their crafts—it is a rare and special event in 2019 America to know who made your clothes and the place they were made, and with us, you can see the conditions for yourselves.
2018 Highlights
Toy & Coat Drives: Success!
We are pleased to announce that during the month of December, we collected over 20 new toys for the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital and 21 coats for the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry.  They told us to say thank you. Thank you to all who donated, your generosity does not go unnoticed.

The CAIT SHEA Cozy Collection: Almost Sold Out!
Our seasonal staples have been flying off the shelves, and we don't have any fabric left for more. Some colors and styles are no longer available, but a limited selection awaits a lucky few in the boutique downstairs. Please contact the store at hello@caitshea.com if you are interested in viewing the collection during this interim.
Events @ Our Shop: Postponed
Knitting 101: The Basics
Despite a rather cumbersome cast on her right arm, Cait's first Knitting 101 workshop was a great success! Thank you to all who came out and gave knitting a chance. Our next workshop will be Jan. 31. Tickets available on our Facebook event.

This workshop is for beginners who haven't really knitted before. Learn how to cast on and off and the basics of the knit and purl stitches. Price includes knitting needles + one skein of yarn to learn on and take home.
Intro Hat Series - POSTPONED UNTIL FEBRUARY
We've unfortunately had to postpone our Jan. 24 Intro Hat workshop until February—exact dates coming soon.

Once you've practiced and have mastered knitting's basic principles, you're ready for our intro hat session so you can put your skills to the test and make something tangible. Price includes circular needles + yarn.
STARTING FEB. 3: Sunday Afternoon Stitch & B*tch, 3-4p
We kicked off our first free knitting series this past weekend with a classic Stitch & B*tch! We're staying open an hour later on Sundays to create a space for knitters to gather and knit. Running through February @ Sprouted.
Journey to the Inner Child Workshop with Author and Healer Melissa Lee: POSTPONED UNTIL MARCH 1.
In light of our winter recess, we are postponing this book event until March 1. You can get tickets and learn more info on our event page in the meantime, and we recommend you check out Melissa's website and NPR interview on All Things Considered, as well.
Coming Soon....
THE CAIT SHEA SPRING COLLECTION, 2019
Inspired by Joshua Tree and the whole of the American landscape, the 2019 Spring Collection is really something special: the designs, fabrics, and patterns are simultaneously timeless and contemporary. Get ready for linen, silk, cotton twill, and vintage colors like you wouldn't believe, earth-toned style never before seen in these parts of town.
Lookbook coming your way.
NEW WEBSITE + JOURNAL
We plan on using our time-off wisely by completely revamping our website. We'll put the final touches on the new CAITSHEA.com just as Cait Shea puts the final touches on her spring collection. We are excited to be showcasing our quality Made in Chester, CT, USA, clothes on the world wide web for all to see. We will also be working on an online journal geared towards minimalism, slow fashion, and conscious living.
Thank you for your continued support in 2018, and here's to a great New Year!

See you in a few weeks,

Cait Shea + Sprouted
