Coastal Cleanup Day, Saturday, September 21st
Coastal Cleanup Day is a day to clean up our shores – a day to get rid of garbage, plastics, and other trash polluting and disfiguring our shores.
Coastal Cleanup is always on the third Saturday of September. It's not just an event at Ballena Bay. It's not just an event in California. It's not just an event in the USA – it's a world-wide event! So join fellow sailors and people who just love the sea and its shore from all around the world and help clean it up!
Coastal Cleanup at Ballena Bay will take place from 9AM to noon. A sign-in table will be set up in the “E” parking lot where participants will be assigned to a team (pre-formed teams from scouts or other organizations are encouraged) and directed to a specific area of the shoreline for them to help clean.
At the end of cleanup (typically around 11:30) “takes” will be judged and prizes awarded in various categories (most cigarette butts, heaviest object, most unusual item, etc).
