April Event Calendar @ CAIT SHEA

CAIT SHEA + Sprouted

Spring has SPRUNG, y'all. Here's what's Sprouted thus far.
First, a big thank you to all who attended our first ever Teen Open Mic Night on Saturday—it was a huge success, and it's clear to us that we've got some serious talent in Chester. Honorable mention to Sophie Spaner, 16, of Deep River, for organizing this event basically by herself. We'll host another open mic night in May, so get practicing!

In the meantime, it's almost time for FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK. We are a sustainable clothing brand and feature handmade clothes made of natural fibers, and this week is dedicated to promoting transparency and equality in the fashion industry. We'll be sending out more information later; in the meantime, we've jam-packed the rest of April with events just for you (and all of your family and friends).

CANNABIDIOL 101: INTRO TO CBD
Saturday, April 20, 4:20-6:30pm

This year on 4/20, join us for a chat with Bob Bursky, owner and operator of Jubilee Farms CBD, based in Westminster, Vermont. This lecture, complete with Q&A, will provide the ins + outs of CBD isolate production, an explanation of what CBD actually is, what phrases like 'full spectrum' mean, and an opportunity to sample our CBD tincture. You will receive an experiential education on the many benefits of CBD when ingested or topically applied: as our guest you will receive a takeaway care package featuring an array of our CBD products so you can experiment and see if it helps you. Contact us for tickets (phone email and irl) or purchase tickets online.
CAIT SHEA WEBSITE LAUNCH + SPRING COLLECTION DEBUT
Friday, April 26, 5pm
We so appreciate the feedback we received on our Spring soft launch. The complete spring collection will be available next weekend. Get ready for more colors, tie- tops, and patterns galore. We're working hard to get everything done in time, and we can't wait for you to see this collection—even more so, we can't wait to see you in it.

We'll be launching our new website then, too, complete with a sustainable style blog.
CHARITY PLEIN-AIR PAINTING EVENT
FEAT. LEIF NILSSON + THE CLOTHES OF CAIT SHEA
Saturday, April 27, 10a-3p

Clear your schedules, folks, this is an event you won't want to miss. Local legendary impressionist painter Leif Nilsson will paint his muse, the beautiful Emily Knight of Chester, dawned in CAIT SHEA's spring collection, out on our front porch. Come, celebrate art and craft with us and see two masters in the midst of their process.

The painting will then be auction off on the CAIT SHEA Instagram. Bidding will be open for one week with the winner announced on First Friday in May. A large portion of the painting sale will be donated to Free the Slaves, an organization dedicated to ending global slave practices around the world. Guess what industry is notorious for slave labor? Fashion. Not only are we providing a space in Connecticut where our clients will know, without a doubt, just who made their clothes, but we are also working to ensure that the money you spend at CAIT SHEA is going to pay everyone fairly.
TALK: SUSTAINABLE FASHION AND WHAT YOU CAN DO
Saturday, April 27, 3p-5p
Did you know that the Fashion Industry is the second largest polluter in the world? The only thing causing more damage to the environment is the petroleum industry, which is woven into the clothes we wear. Acrylic? Acetate? Rayon? Polyester? Petroleum plastics leeching poison into the sea via our throwaway culture and the washing machine.

Join us Saturday afternoon to talk about shopping and clothes, the importance of locally-made and natural fibers, the balance between new and used clothing, and the peace of mind that can be found by investing in a timeless, minimal wardrobe. Hosted by Katie Hjerpe, local minimalist, and Cait Shea, slow fashion designer. Free and open to the public at Sprouted.
CLOTHING SWAP
Sunday, April 28, 11a-2p
Trying to clean out your wardrobe this spring and start fresh? Come to town on Sunday, April 28, for our first-ever clothing swap! Bring the clothes that just don't speak to you anymore, and see if you can make a trade. Find your old clothes a new home, and take home something, good as new.
We've been LOVING this spring weather thus far, and we hope to keep you busy as the sun brings us all back to life.

With you in mind,
CAIT SHEA
